eZedia would like to welcome all of our existing and new readers.
In this issue:
1. Great Things Are Happening At eZedia!
eZedia has recently released two plug-ins for Apple iMovie which enhance and extend the
functions of iMovie to a more professional level. The response to
eZeMatte and eZeScreen
has been tremendous and they both have been super additions to our growing family of
eZedia products.
As part of eZedia's commitment to creating easy-to-use software that serves as
a catalyst for seamless media communication, eZedia will be showing a preview of our
newest product, eZediaQTI, at Macworld New York 2002. eZediaQTI is a cross-platform
QuickTime® authoring and animation environment to create rich and interactive internet content and will be publicly available this fall.
As always, eZedia is very interesed in all of our customers comments and ideas. We have set up a special e-mail address for you to share your thoughts with us. I will personally review your comments and suggestions - feedback@ezedia.ca

2. Apple Education Curriculum Solutions
To help address the No Child Left Behind Act, Apple has created a website highlighting software applications that foster student achievement and has included eZediaMX as one of their Curriculum Solutions.
eZediaMX strengthens and supports constructivist
learning by incorporating rich technology resources into a curriculum and takes students and
educators to the front of the class with the help of Zoom-ed, eZedia's Education Program. Students can develop cross-curriculum digital media projects, presentations, reports, and portfolios. Educators can easily introduce multimedia concepts into the classroom, create lesson plans, and develop training materials. Schools can show the world who they are with digital yearbooks, recruitment CDs, and multimedia archives.
Technology today is giving students more ways than ever before to research, collaborate, communicate, express their ideas, and share what they've learned. eZediaMX provides effective communication with digital media.
3. Start Something: Creating eZediaMX Autorun CDs
An eZediaMX Autorun CD will start your project as soon as the CD is inserted into a Windows computer.
To begin, there are certain files you need to have. The files "eZeLaunch.exe", "autorun.inf", "start.zoi", "eZediaPlayer.exe" and the folder "Player Data" must all be in the root directory of the Windows CD.
eZedia has created a small free program, eZeLaunch, that will launch an eZediaMX file with eZedia Player. This download includes "autorun.inf" and "eZeLaunch.exe". The "autorun.inf" is already preconfigured to work with "eZeLaunch.exe".
Using this method, the eZediaMX .zoi file that you want to automatically start must be called "start.zoi". If you have already created a project with multiple .zoi files and your starting file is NOT named "start.zoi", simply create a one-frame document with a black background and save it as "start.zoi". This file can then have a GoTo that links to your first file. The GoTo should activate on Frame Open. Make sure that this file is the same document size as your other files.
On Macintosh, there is no way to create an autorun CD on OS X. Below is an alternate solution for Mac OS 9 and X. Lay out the root window of your CD to look like this:
When the user opens the CD on Macintosh it will be obvious what they need to do to get started.

4. eZedia Goes To School
On June 17th at the National Educational Computing Conference in
San Antonio, Texas, eZedia announced the launch of Zoom-ed, eZedia's
Education Program. Zoom-ed offers education pricing for eZediaMX
multimedia authoring software and resources such as lesson plans,
media content,
training,
contests and information on
technology grants and funding for K-12 schools, Colleges and Universities.
Educators can access multimedia resources and learn how to incorporate
digital technology into instruction in a meaningful way via the
Zoom-ed web site.
As part of the launch activities, eZedia also announced the Zoom-ed Classroom Contest, giving teachers an opportunity to win one of three Apple eMacs and eZediaMX software for their students. This contest is another way in which Zoom-ed provides inspiration for creative, interactive and collaborative teaching and learning.
