eZedia Inc. Supports Visual Literacy at the Texas Computer Education Association Conference (TCEA)

AUSTIN, TEXAS - February 4, 2004 - eZedia Inc., a leader in digital media software technology, is honored to have Dr. Lynell Burmark, a distinguished pioneer in education, signing her award-winning book, Visual Literacy, in the eZedia Booth #316 at TCEA.

"Dr. Lynell Burmark's book, Visual Literacy, invites educators and students to examine the new landscape of literacy for the 21st Century," said Stefan Embleton, President and Founder, of eZedia Inc. "She demonstrates that it is no longer enough to read and write text, but today's students must learn to process both words and pictures. eZedia's digital learning software helps students visually communicate their understanding of the lessons taught and share their work with others. This use of multimedia in the classroom has shown to engage learners and improve student achievement."

Dr. Burmark's book, Visual Literacy: Learn to See, See to Learn (ASCD, 2002), examines the effect on education of a primarily visual world. Dr. Burmark, an experienced K-16 educator, provides a wealth of practical tips and strategies for using fonts, colors, templates, and images appropriately. The book, used by universities for teacher training, and by classroom teachers and staff developers for guiding their own practice, invites the reader to move gracefully and fluently between text and images, and offers a powerful new approach to presentations by both teachers and students.

"One look at the eZedia multimedia authoring tools (eZediaMX for presentations and eZediaQTI for one-click export to the Web or Quick-Time movies) and I'm sending PowerPoint into long-overdue retirement," says Lynell Burmark. "Finally, multimedia authoring that's at once easy (eZe) to use and more robust than programs costing ten to twenty times as much!"

"We are pleased that eZedia leveraged Cocoa's development environment to re-write its interactive QuickTime authoring software," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "eZediaQTI 2.0 allows Mac users to easily combine and enhance multimedia content without requiring any programming knowledge."

Stop by the eZedia Booth #316 for one-on-one demonstrations of the eZedia product line, book signings by Dr. Burmark, and a free copy of the "See to Learn" CD with the first 50 purchases of Visual Literacy. Dr. Burmark is offering two presentations in the Oak Room on Thursday, February 5th; "Get the Picture: Strategies for More Visual Teaching and Learning" from 2:30 - 4:00 PM, and "Learn to Read or Go to Jail: The Imperative for 100% Literacy" from 4:15 - 5:00 PM.
